Apprentice arrested after jointly kidnapping boss' son with herbalist


Fredguru.blogspot.com gathered that a middle-aged man identified as Obinna Stephen was recently arrested for allegedly conniving with a herbalist to kidnap an 8-year-old boy.

According to reports, Obinna was arrested by the Ondo state police command for allegedly kidnapping his boss' 8-year-old son in Akure.

Obinna who was an apprentice to Chuks Ezechiefor, a dealer in electrical materials in Arakale market prior to committing the act, was paraded at the police headquarters.

He named his accomplices as Eze Ifeanyi, a herbalist, Joel Carol and Christopher Anthony.
The suspects were said to have asked for a ransom of N50m, and were eagerly awaiting the receipt till their arrest at Omoniyi Estate, Akure.

Confirming the story, the Ondo state police commissioner, Hilda Harrison, said the little boy was kidnapped from church. She said:

“On receipt of the kidnap report, we swung into action and got the suspect (Stephen) arrested. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the complicity in the crime. Further enquiries led to the arrest of other suspects.”

Harrison said the unnamed little boy was unharmed when he was rescued, and also confirmed the recovery of some weapons including one Beretta pistol, some live ammunition, and two live cartridges.

The suspects are said to be awaiting arraignment in court.
