It was gathered that one of the cult groups in the area, Deygbam, had stormed the community last month, where a member of the Icelander group was killed. A source, who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said cultists suspected to be members of Icelanders were in the community to avenge their colleague’s death, leading to the killing of the number of persons. The source stated that the suspected cultists went from house to house, killing their targets, adding that most of the victims were members of the opposing cult gang in the area. A Facebook user identified as Maduekwe Ebuka Collins, has taken to the social networking platform to share photos of a fire incident currently happening at the Federal University of Technology (FUTO) in Owerri, the Imo state capital. Ebuka posted the photos and wrote; "Futo ICT on fire. Maybe even God is annoyed that we paid for internet services that has not been given up till now." The federal government has declared Monday and Tuesday, June 26 and 27, as Public Holiday to mark Eid-el-fitr celebration. The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government. He enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to use the occasion of the celebration for sober reflection and pray for peace, unity and progress of the nation in its march to nationhood.
